Hillsborough California is located 20 miles south of San Francisco on the beautiful San Francisco Peninsula. Reflecting the great wealth and grandeur of the late 19th century and the early 20th century, Italian palazzos, French chateaus, Spanish colonial haciendas, were built on the sprawling estates, whose focal point was the newly developed Burlingame country Club. Here on the rolling, Oak dotted foothills, these movers and shakers of that opulent era engaged in the favorite pursuits of the wealthy landed gentry. Polo, Fox hunting, extravagant balls, and genteel teas. Many of these great estates remain, a few of them still in use as single family homes, most now used as esteemed private schools.

During the 1920’s, many of these Hillsborough estates were subdivided, creating the town of quiet, tree canopied streets and stately homes, that we see today. Most of the exotic trees that were planted on the original Hillsborough estates, remain today, now over a century old, and towering over the landscape, an urban forest of spectacular beauty, secluding from the streets, home of great beauty and character. From that era remain stone walls and bridges, ornate pillars and gates. Graceful tree lined drives that welcomed the residents and visitors to these estates now serve more modest, but still spectacular homes. By the beginning of the 20th century, Hillsborough was mostly built out, with new, larger homes, replacing the more modest ones.

Today, Hillsborough is world renown as one of the wealthiest residential communities in the United States. Incorporated in 1917, Hillsborough has highly rated schools. The adjacent town of Burlingame offers exciting shopping and dining. Nearby are several golf courses. Within a few miles are boating and hiking. Silicon Valley, the epicenter of innovation and entrepreneurship is 10 miles to the South. Leader companies of the life sciences and biotechnology are just to the north. Hillsborough is home to leaders of the world economy who create and invest the capital that makes innovation and progress possible.
